Anything Is Possible: An Examination of Neville Brody

Neville Brody is a British graphic designer and considered one of the most well-known of his generation. Brody began his design work in the 80’s independent music scene and later worked for various magazines. Brody wished to rebel against the cultural deep freeze of corporate design and explore new design solutions that unlock creative fires. The task for this project was to create a book examining Brody’s design work and ideals and present them in a way that is indicative of his style.

Due to the fact that Brody himself desired to change the rules of design, a loose approach to book design was taken. Design decisions were made to compliment his style without overpowering it. Many of the layouts were turned on an angle and the folios were larger than typical book design and made to bleed off of each page. Quotes were also brought up in scale and also bled off the page, but were repeated on each spread so that the entirety of the quote could still be read.
